A vibrant school in Surrey is seeking a dedicated HR Manager to lead their HR team and ensure the delivery of a professional, compliant, and caring HR service. Key responsibilities:
- Lead the delivery of high-quality HR service, ensuring all staff issues are managed effectively, legally compliant, and aligned with school values.
- Manage complex employee relations casework such as disciplinary, grievance, absence management, and restructures, providing guidance to managers and staff.
- Maintain and update HR policies and procedures, ensuring UK employment law compliance and best practice within an educational setting.
- Oversee payroll administration, contractual documentation, and workforce data management to ensure accuracy and confidentiality.
- Support recruitment processes, including safeguarding compliance and vetting, for both teaching and support staff, working closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead.
- Provide advice and coaching to senior leaders on staff performance, development, and wellbeing initiatives.
- Prepare reports on workforce metrics for senior management and governance, supporting risk management and decision-making.
- Line manage the Assistant HR Manager and support their responsibilities around recruitment, payroll, and safeguarding.
- Engage with broader staff engagement initiatives, fostering a positive, inclusive, and respectful working environment.
About you:
- Strong educational background, with a minimum of A-level standard and a CIPD qualification at Level 5 or above.
- Extensive experience managing complex HR casework, employee relations, and safeguarding within an education or similar setting.
- Solid knowledge of UK employment law and its practical application, particularly within the school sector.
- Experience with HR systems (preferably Every HR) and workforce data analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and advise senior leadership with confidence and discretion.
- A proactive and collaborative approach, demonstrating high standards of integrity, organisation, and attention to detail.
- Commitment to safeguarding, equality, and fostering a positive staff culture, with warmth and approachability.
- Flexibility to support occasional work outside standard hours for meetings or school events.
