Part Time Temporary Bookkeeper

A reputable business is seeking a Part-Time Temporary Bookkeeper to manage their financial records with precision and professionalism. Key responsibilities:

  • Manage purchase and sales ledgers, ensuring accurate coding and posting within Xero accounting software.
  • Reconcile supplier, bank, credit card, and creditor statements with high attention to detail.
  • Support payroll processing, including employee wages, NI contributions, pension contributions, and HMRC year-end documentation.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly VAT returns and assist with end-of-year accounts, liaising with HMRC as needed.
  • Ensure timely payment of invoices and supplier queries, maintaining effective communication with relevant stakeholders.
  • Handle general administrative duties such as filing, photocopying, and responding to emails and phone calls.
  • Contribute to financial reporting, including preparing cash flow statements, profit and loss accounts, and balance sheets.
  • Collaborate with the company accountant to ensure compliance and prepare documentation for audits or reviews.
  • Keep updated on current legislation and legal guidance pertinent to financial management and compliance.

About you:

  • Possess AAT Level 3 Certification in Bookkeeping or equivalent experience.
  • Hold a Payroll Technician Certificate or demonstrated payroll experience.
  • Proficient in Xero or similar accounting software.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and numeracy skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a high level of procedure adherence.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team in a busy environment.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with a customer-focused approach.
  • Organised and able to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professional integrity.
