People Officer

An excellent opportunity for a People Officer has become available for 3 months, this is an excellent opportunity to contribute to organisational change and staff development. The role provides a supportive environment focused on professional growth, collaborative working, and impactful HR advice.

Key responsibilities:

  • Provide professional HR advice and support to line managers and staff across designated service areas.
  • Manage employee relations casework, including disciplinary, grievance, sickness absence, and performance issues, ensuring legal compliance and organisational policies are followed.
  • Advise on and support recruitment, including job design, shortlisting, panel organisation, and inclusive practices.
  • Support organisational change initiatives, including restructures and role reviews, by preparing change documents and attending consultation meetings.
  • Build trusted relationships with managers and service teams to facilitate workforce planning and performance management.
  • Interpret, apply, and contribute to the development of HR policies, ensuring compliance with employment law and best practice.
  • Support initiatives relating to employee wellbeing, early intervention, and fostering a positive work environment.
  • Contribute to People & OD projects such as engagement, EDI, and continuous process improvements.
  • Maintain accurate HR records and data, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with data protection policies.
  • Escalate complex or sensitive issues to the appropriate senior colleagues or specialists as necessary.

About you:

  • Previous experience in an HR advisory or officer role.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law, HR policies, and employee relations management.
  • CIPD qualification or actively working towards it is desirable.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and advise managers confidently.
  • A proactive and organised approach, capable of managing a varied workload at pace.
  • Demonstrates professionalism, resilience, and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, building effective relationships across teams and external partners.
  • Motivated to support organisational values focused on wellbeing, collaboration, and trusted service delivery.

What’s on offer:

  • Hourly rate of £20 - £24 per hour, dependent on experience.
